«BETWEEN TWO POTS“

Quintet exhibition with DU ZHENJUN, LIFANG, LUO MINGJUN, RU XIAOFAN AND QU LEILEI (Chinese ink, oil, photography and sculpture)

20-23 October 2022, Monnaie de Paris (6th), 11 Quai Conti

This new exhibition delves into the timeless medium of ceramics and faience, a cornerstone within both art history and contemporary art, exploring the line between science and myth.

The exhibition highlights a number of surprising processes that utilise the medium in new and unexpected ways.

Firstly, we look at artist Luo Mingjun’s use of a heightened scale and perspective.

Secondly, we see the reflective sculptures of Ru Xiao Fan using combined media in both traditional and contemporary contexts.

Thirdly we come to Qu Lei Lei’s figure, the translucent brushwork giving the skin a porcelain like quality.

Fourth is Li Fang’s blaze, primal and elemental in its brazen nature.

Lastly, Du Zhenjun’s Tower of Babel highlights the fragility of the world through his tactile, photo-realistic technique and acute sense of distance.
