Ye Hongxing was born in the Guangxi Province, China. She studies Fine Arts at the Guilin Educational Academy, from which she graduates in 1995. In 1998 she continues her studies in Beijing and graduates from the Printing Department of the Beijing Central Fine Art Academy (CAFA).
Her first international exhibition takes place in 2004 at the 7th Annual Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations in Venice, Italy. In 2006, she is selected as one of China’s top 20 emerging painters at the Dragonair Emerging Chinese Artist Awards (D.E.C.A.A.). In 2014, she becomes an artist in residency at the Lux Art Institute, Encinitas, California.
Ye Hongxing is internationally renowned and explores different themes, patterns and materials. Her self-portraits, embedded in circles symbolising the sky, in the traditional feminine Yin representation, are hidden behind materialistic Yang attributes such as porcelain motifs, landscapes or personalities appearing on banknotes. In so doing, she becomes the spokesperson of a generation of Chinese artists apprehensive to see the values of their traditional culture fade away in an overly consumerist society.
YE Hongxing lives and works in Beijing, China, and signs her works with her artist name RED XING ( Red Star ).

Ye Hongxing est née dans la province de Guangxi. Elle étudie les beaux-arts à l’Académie pédagogique de Guilin, où elle obtient son diplôme en 1995. En 1998, elle poursuit ses études à Pékin et obtient son diplôme de maîtrise du département d’impression de la Central Fine Art Academy (CAFA).

Sa première participation internationale a lieu lors de la 7ème Exposition annuelle de sculptures et installations en 2004 à Venise, en Italie. En 2006, elle est sélectionnée comme l’un des vingt meilleurs peintres émergents de la Chine aux Dragonair Emerging Chinese Artist Awards (D.E.C.A.A.). En 2014, elle bénéficie d’une résidence d’artiste au Lux Art Institute, à Encinitas, en Californie.
YE Hongxing, artiste de renommée internationale, explore différents thèmes, modèles et matériaux. Ses autoportraits, peints dans des cercles symbolisant le ciel, dans la représentation féminine traditionnelle du Yin, sont recouverts par des attributs matériels du Yang, tels que des motifs de porcelaine, des paysages ou des personnalités figurant sur des billets de banque. Elle se fait ainsi le porte-parole d’une génération d’artistes chinois craignant de voir disparaitre les valeurs de leur culture traditionnelle dans une société de consommation à outrance.
YE Hongxing vit et travaille à Pékin en Chine et signe de son nom d’artiste Red Xing, Etoile rouge.
