XIAOTONG AN

is a diaspora artist and installation artist born in 1971 in Xi’an, China.

Xiaotong An was born into a family of high ranking civil servants in the military hospitals and her family had a strong taste for painting and music. She graduated from the University of Shandong (one of the most populated regions in the east, with its seaside and Taoist mountains, the city of Confucius and the city of science, along with Quingdao, the „Switzerland of China“), and taught for four years before continuing her training at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 2004, Xiaotong An, who already spoke French, took part in the Sino-French Cultural Year outside exhibition and worked directly with artists such as Daniel Buren, Bertrand Lavier and Wang Du, to name but a few of the world’s best known.

Xiaotong An exhibits in Europe (including England, France, Belgium), Asia (Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Shandong, Singapore,) as well as in America (New York, Miami, Sao Paulo, Toronto) and participates in major exhibitions (notably with Wang Du) and fairs (FIAC, Art Basel Miami, Art Geneva and Moca Biennale in Shanghai) and Biennales in several international institutions. Xiaotong An is a discreet artist to be discovered who handles many classical and modern techniques, from embroidery to lego.
